There was a pensive look on her face as he continued his tale. Daenerys had come so very close to losing him...it made her want to keep him close to her from now on, and never let him risk his safety again. But it wasn't safe around her, not truly, and it would only get more dangerous as she finally moved to take the Iron Throne. That, and Jorah would resent her for trying to shield him. He deserves to go home, she thought, wistful.
Fate must have intervened to bring the man who had known Jeor Mormont to the citadel at the same time her bear was there. It angered her that the maesters had tried to stop him from treating Jorah. Changes will be made once I rule. Then --
"He removed the skin?!" she exclaimed, horrified. In the distance behind them a dragon let out a in deep, rumbling roar.
As a child she had, as children do, often fallen and scraped her knees, sometimes even elbows. It always hurt, and Viserys would have to kiss her bandage and wipe away her tears. How much pain had he endured?
By the time Jorah finished her eyes were bright and shimmering with unshed tears. "The pain...it must have been unbearable," she said quietly. "After enduring that, after all that you have been through, I would not have blamed you for deciding to leave. Live your life in peace on Bear Island, perhaps."
'I would have done anything. I would have tried anything, to return to you.'
Those words, coupled with that faint smile...it made her heart flutter. Dany schooled her features, hoping that he hadn't noticed anything different.
"May I see your hand, Ser Jorah?" she asked. "I wish to see this miracle with my own eyes."
