Daenerys listened to him, both attentive and patient. She knew that he always wanted to not only protect her, but shield her from the grim realities of life. While it endeared him to her even more, she was a queen, and had a responsibility to her people. They do not have the luxury of being shielded from the harsh realities of life. I will not be shielded, either.
Still, there was a small part of her that yearned to be taken care of and treated like an ordinary woman. It was a part of her she had to suppress. Dany had to be strong for her people at all times no matter what happened.
She raised her eyebrows when Jorah said that they did not like him there. It made her curious, what sort of men those maesters were. "I hope they still treated you well."
The thought of all those books was exciting. So much knowledge and history, so many stories...it would be nice, to see it all.
"This man who approached you...he knew the cure?" She looked puzzled. "If a cure is known, then it must be shared." Greyscale was a terrible disease, a d she had never heard of an effective treatment for it, let alone a cure.
Hearing how Jorah had planned on taking his own life made her heart ache. Her curious expression turned to a sad one as she glanced up at him. "Thank the gods you met that man," he said quietly. "I owe him a great debt."
She stopped walking for a moment, and reached out to touch Jorah's arm. "Thank you, Ser Jorah. You completed an impossible task for your queen." A warm smile lit up her face. "And you have made your friend happy beyond measure." Though she tried to hide it, there was a wealth of emotion in her eyes as well as her voice.
